What Bruce Does

He’s well known in New Jersey as a regular contributor to The Fisherman magazine and New Jersey Federated Sportsmen’s News. Published on fishing with spinning, baitcasting, saltwater, and ice fishing gear in many other magazines, too, he’s also written essays, poems, and articles for fly fishing magazines. They include The Flyfish Journal, The Drake, Swing the Fly, Tail, and Eastern Fly Fishing . “Coming of Age,” a story about his son, Matt, growing up over the course of years fishing New York’s Salmon River, placed as a finalist for the Brookwood Press Writing Award, published in Salmon and Steelhead Journal. Bruce is also published on topics pertaining to naturalism in The New Jersey Monthly, The Black River Journal, The Paleontograph, and The Sandpaper. He’s written about river dam removals and stream restoration in New Jersey for more than a few publications including USA Today. Other publications take his work, which includes philosophy, poetry, essays, and fiction. Some take photography he does. His blog Litton’s Fishing Lines has drawn hundreds of thousands of visitations. He also continues to write by hand as hundreds of journals stack up in his study. Bruce’s interests span literature, philosophy, and psychology, which are not subjects isolated from his many adventures. He’s nearly finished his first book, which deals with the subject of microlight method for stocked trout, how it led into the adventure of his youth, and how that method and any outdoor pursuit can assure anyone of life’s value despite the challenges of work.

The Microlight Quest: Trout, Adventure, Renewal

is the big picture accounting for a trout fishing method leading in the direction of Bruce’s active and creative life. As unlikely as it might seem. Lessons learned serve anyone who will read about rising above the holding of a job. It’s for anyone who will engage the outdoors.

“Litton has a solid reputation as an outdoor journalist as he continues to expand as a writer and photographer,” Eric Evans, Brand Manager, iBass360.

“You’re easy to edit, because I never have to change a word,” Jim Hutchinson, Managing Editor, The Fisherman.

“You have more readers than you might think. They’re not saying so on Mayhem, because they just don’t. But they find detailed information you post they can’t find anywhere else,” Joe Santiago, cocreator with Chris Pereira of the NJ Multispecies Podcast and the Facebook NJ Multispecies Mayhem site.
